Today I just made up my mind to start using the Obsidian markdown note taking app, finally I'm trying to switch from Notion to Obsidian, just hope to keep journaling regularly enough to help myself into being more productive and start doing cool shit.
Usually I don't give a shit about these apps, but I think using something that uses markdown is much more versatile.
The only thing I'm currently using in Notion is the kanban style task list template to manage the tasks that I have to do on the various projects at work.
It's raining outside the Office.
I'm watching stuff online on how to use Obsidian with tags and links.
I really like a feature I just noticed in the community plugins page, it was basically a plugin to enable queries from something called dataview inside Obsidian.
Being an engineer I think I'll prefer the flexibility of queries over the whatever filter-type-thing they have in Notion. I'm really liking the much more minimal and customizable look of Obsidian.
For starters I'm gonna use it for managing resources and docs related to a machine learning project for a client. Maybe the graph thingy will reveal itself useful for managing the code knowledgebase.
Anyways I plan on writing my thoughts on "stuff" more frequently, because :
- It makes write more (on one of my cool custom mechanical keebs)
- I can just use time that otherwise would've been "wasted"
- It keeps me from looking up and buying more and more guitar gear
For lazyness related purposes this post has been written inside Obsidian, copy and pasted into Notion and then automatically published through the automated workflow that I've put into place for this blog.
I'll try to switch on something more custom and connected directly to Obsidian instead of Notion whenever I'll feel like it.
